What do I mean by "don't cry wolf" when it comes to emails?
When you cry wolf is when you mark the email as urgent when it's not actually urgent!
So what's the problem with that?
When you're working and you need somebody to give you their attention quickly, you want to say, "Hey, this is urgent!". But if you mark every email that gets sent as urgent, it loses its value.
I think that in an organization, you need to explain to your staff and the people you work with that it should only be marked as urgent, if it is urgent.
So many people just have the habit of, "I'm going to send this email, it's urgent, I'm going to send that email, it's urgent". My recommendation for you and just a little tip, it's something small, it's a nuance of life, it's a tiny change with your emails... only mark urgent when urgent.
Don't cry wolf! Because then one day when it's urgent, somebody won't even give it the attention. Educate those that you work with and you yourself... don't mark urgent unless it is urgent.
