It was my birthday just a few days ago. One of the things I learned on my birthday is - what a difference it makes when you reach out and send people your love and your communications.
On a birthday, everybody goes out of their way to communicate to you, to send you good wishes, to tell you positive things, and wish you, of course, a happy birthday.
What can we learn from that?
If we were to take a fraction of that energy and do that daily to people around us, treat everyone like it's their birthday. You walk into a restaurant and someone says, "it's his birthday", you care for the guy more all of a sudden because it's his birthday.
But what if you treated your clients with the care like it was their birthday, or your friends with a little more care like it was their birthday? Now, of course, you can't treat everyone like it's their birthday and message everyone every day and tell them, you know, good wishes. But the idea is - one person, one more client that you can send a message to today and just say, "Hey, I wanted to give you an extra message and tell you I'm thinking of you. Let me know if I can help you with anything".
Or somebody walks into your store and you give them just a little bit more attention as if it's their birthday. Or you see a friend and you give them a call and say, "Hey, man, I miss you. How are you doing?", like it's their birthday.
It doesn't mean for everyone but gradually every day you chat to people and speak to them like it's their birthday. That's what I learned on mine. And I hope that's something you can use today.
